If you are thinking of buying Oshawa real estate, get a feel for the market on this page. Below, you will find all current Oshawa real estate listings, and the map search tool is updated whenever new homes are added to MLS®.
Oshawa is located around 60 kilometres away from downtown Toronto and is best known as a centre of Canadian car manufacturing — General Motors remains the biggest employer in the city. Fittingly, Oshawa is also home to the Canadian Automotive Museum.
Although much of that industry has left the area, the city has revitalized itself in the last ten years or so.
Nowadays, Oshawa is a vibrant, welcoming city with lots to recommend it. In particular, it has become an educational hub, with three post-secondary institutions located in Oshawa.
Ontario’s provincial government has helped drive Oshawa’s rejuvenation with measures such as turning the city centre into an Urban Growth Centre and setting up a Regional Innovation Centre (which supports local entrepreneurs and business innovation).
You might also recognize Oshawa from the silver screen as it has been used as the backdrop for a number of big-budget movies, including Chicago and X-Men.
The city also boasts wildlife parks which are great for exploring with family or friends, local theatres for a spot of culture, and golf courses for those so inclined.
Oshawa’s real estate market is quite different in the two halves of the city, North Oshawa and South Oshawa. North Oshawa has a more rural character and is less densely populated than South Oshawa, which is home to great restaurants and entertainment options, including the Robert McLaughlin Gallery and the General Motors Center where you can see sporting events and concerts.
